Newest, Latest Baseball Gloves on the Market - 100% Cowhide Leather
Ok folks, you're not even going to believe this edited short story, but it's true. I was looking to purchase new baseball gloves at a good price for our store and we found this one retailer online based out of New Jersey. His prices were rather good, so I'm thinking, ok, the guys from Jersey are pretty cool. I was born and raised in nearby PA, so I can deal with the guys from New Jersey. I'll wrote to them and made it clear that I wanted to order about 50 baseball gloves and I wanted to have those gloves on the shelves before summer time.
This guy (whom I'm embarrassed to say his name or company) did everything in his polite way of telling me in an email that he didn't want to sell to us. So, we went on a huge search, to find the hidden doors of the factory that are usually known only to the large manufactures that makes all the famous big name ball gloves for MLB players as well.
We the we found them......sorry, I won't share that info with you...but they do great work. Everything is based on the customer's requirements. So, choosing the right materials and layout is something of a preference, and that decision is made on over 50 years of experience.
I owned my first baseball glove in 1963. Baseball was at its peak among the other sports and the neighborhoods kids would hit the backyards, parking lots, and fields playing 6-8 hours a day; we didn't care about having lunch or water break at all. That old glove I had in the early 60's was good until the college days starting in 1973.
As a huge baseball fan, moving from the east coast to the west during the mid-70's, I was living and going to school in San Diego. At that time, super hero, big Dave Winfield use to nail 6-10 HR batting practice balls in the LF bleachers at Jack Murphy Stadium where a bunch of local guys would meet and compete to catch as many balls as possible. I caught over 60 balls that year. You're talking about fighting off other fans; timing a good jump getting in right position, and having the right glove open and able to squeeze it tight enough not to let that ball out.
I'm telling this story so you know, that I'm extremely picky about having the right glove, both as a buyer and someone who will put their company's reputation on having a nice product. So as of early 2016, we'll be putting out our own line of baseball gloves and we decided to opt out of carrying the major brands. So if you walk in the store, we'll sell you a major brand at a discount as we feel our new gloves are better than any glove we've ever carried from any manufacture. We want to close out our existing stock and only carry our own brand.
With countless baseball and softball games, as a player, manager, and umpire, I've seen a lot of great equipment. So, by working with the manufacture direct, I know we're going to produce a great glove. Various sizes will be available, we have an option for other colors, but we feel the old throwbacks brown leather will be the best and represent our high quality standards.
If there's something you like about your personal baseball glove, I'd love to hear from you.
Also, we have two new baseball glove products coming within the year that no one has ever produced. Here's a sneak peek of the good stuff from ProThrowbacks.
