Staff: This is a thoughtful email from Ben, the man behind these videos...he's a skateboard expert!
Thanks you for your comment on our channel. I wish I could go around to shops and train their employees and educate everyone on how everything actually works.
It's extremely important for employees to be experts in the stuff they are selling. This creates a good feeling in the customer, because they feel like your employees are trusted experts and will take care of them. People pay more money for products when they feel good.
So, what is a great way to make your customers feel good? What do they really want more than product? Ask yourself this question, "If I were a young skater, what do I want if I already have a skateboard, and I love skateboarding every day?"
The answer is... THEY WANT TO BE SPONSORED! But, they don't want to be sponsored to get free product. What they actually want is to be part of a skate team. They want a place to belong to.
Skateboarding is not an organized team sport like soccer/futball, basketball, or baseball (or whatever sports they play in the Philippines).
Because of this, skaters don't have games, practices, tournaments, championships, awards, trophies, celebrations, uniforms, and continuous social interactions among friends and teammates.
This is why skaters want to be on a shop's skate team. They want a place to belong, and a shop skate team is that place.
So, why not put all your customers on your skate team?
You can separate skill levels like you see with martial arts belts and call these sub-teams. In order to get to a higher sub-team a skater must complete certain tricks.
I have exciting news. We are about to launch a new website soon that manages all your customers on your new skate team. What's really exciting for the skaters is how they earn badges and points, and can see their score on a leaderboard and see how they compare to other members on the team.
This will help skate shops compete against the internet and shopping mall stores, and eliminate having to give discounts to make a transaction.
We'll be releasing a video on our channel to promote it, so you'll find out when the tools are available.
It's going to completely change the way shops do business with customers, and grow your profits in big ways.
Thank you,
Ben
